Usborne's popular Ready Steady Read sponsored reading challenge gets children genuinely excited about books while raising funds for your school library. Children are sponsored to read — typically for one week or during school holidays — and it's one of the most popular events schools run at World Book Day.
I provide everything needed: reading logs, launch videos, certificates, and all sponsorship is handled online. There's very little for staff to manage. All money raised goes directly towards new books, with Usborne matching up to 60% in free books on top.
For nurseries, I also offer the Ready Steady Listen version — a beautifully adapted challenge where children are sponsored to enjoy stories being read aloud to them.
Virtual Book Fairs (UK-wide): A simple, modern way to run a book fair with far less logistical effort than a traditional one. I have prepared age-appropriate video showcases for each year group — your teachers present them in classrooms, pupils fill in wish lists while watching, and take them home for parents to order online via a dedicated link set up for your school. Books are delivered directly to your school, making it completely straightforward for everyone involved. A percentage of all sales goes back to your school as library credit.
In-person book fairs in South West London: I come in to your school as a visitor for a special one-off event, leading interactive sessions with each class — bringing the books to life and creating a genuinely exciting experience for the children.
I help coordinate author events, with 25 award-winning Usborne authors to choose from, suited to Key Stages 1 to 5. Events include talks, readings, Q&A sessions, and book signings — available both virtually and in person.
Children come to school or nursery dressed in their pyjamas, and at some point during the day the whole school pauses for a Book Party — with reading activities, stories, and book-themed fun woven through the day. It's a wonderful, joyful event that children absolutely love, and one that really builds a sense of community around reading.
Children bring in a small donation to take part, and all money raised goes directly to your school or nursery to spend on new books. Simple, inclusive, and brilliant fun.
